Over the years, I've noticed the same thing about some of the people I admire most. They rarely talk about themselves or their children or their problems. In fact, they often don't talk much at all. They ask about me, my family, what I'm doing these days, and then they listen with great interest. They sincerely care about whatever I want to share. And if they do talk, what they have to say almost always deepens my understanding about something important and leaves me with new things to think about. Their example makes me want to be a better listener.
