As an introvert, I naturally listen to others more easy than I can speak to them. And while this is a wonderful attribute that I'm tremendously grateful for, I noticed that I wasn't listening to myself as much as I'd like to be. I didn't know myself as well as I knew others. This revelation was the start of finding my own voice and listening to it as easily as I was listening to others. Although I'm still on this journey and am sure I will continue to be for the entirety of my life, I've noticed that listening to one's self is similar to listening to another in that it requires dedicatedm alone time where you can discover your own thoughts, feelings and ideas. However, listening to yourself is also different from listening to another person because of the connection and communication between body and mind. I hadn't noticed before that our own bodies have a way of communicating with our minds that is important to our physical and emotional health. When we learn to listen to our bodies, our physical and mental well-being is improved and life is more enjoyable. Listening to others is such a skill and a blessing, but never forget to listen to yourself and your own heart first.
