This past decade 2 of my 3 precious children have died much to young. It's impossible for others to know what life feels like when you have buried a child or two. I don't wish this experience on anyone. Having a friend or two that will stand by you on this most difficult grief journey is key to survival. A friend who will walk beside you and just listen can give the person grieving the will to go on with living. Just listening, without judging ,preaching or comparing sad stories Is a very rare skill. Just listening while a grieving parent cries and being comfortable with staying silent is a treasured gift. I have had such a friend who gave me that gift of compassionate listening. Now I strive to give that same gift to others.
